The very first step is to choose what you want to call your website. I deliberated long and hard about mine, and even then made a mistake in what I chose. But the good news is, for the most part, domain names are not expensive if you are open minded in what you want. At this stage, if you are funding your website yourself and wanting to keep costs down, be flexible in what you choose.
There are various places you can look for a domain name. One platform – Wealthy Affiliate, offers support on builidng your website if you want to do it yourself but arent totally sure where to go with it.
Hosting
Web hosting is a service provided by companies (the web host) that sell or lease space on a server where you store the files that make your website accessible on the internet. These companies typically require that you own a domain, and they may help you purchase one. So Wealthy Affiliate ofers you this too. An easy process of purchasing your domain there, and they deal with all the proesses of setting up the site and hosting it for you.
Wordpress Website
A wordpress website doesn’t need any coding. Its can all be written from the front end. This means that anyone can create a website for their business, or simply for blogging.

Wordpress Theme
Once you have your domain name and hosting sorted out, you then need to upload your writing platform – wordpress – this is free. Yay! something for nothing and thats great! You will be able to choose a theme – this sets the appearance of your website. If you are new to this then go for a free one to start with. It is a bit of work to change a theme later on but right at the start, its easier to use one thats free until you get the idea of wordpress. Again this is something that Wealthy Affiliate will support you in, it is definitely doable.
